Sutter Health accelerates development of applications through IT-as-a-Service
Sutter Health is a not-for-profit health system serving more than 100 communities in Northern California. Each year, its 5,000 physicians care for more than 10 million outpatient visits and discharge more than 200,000 in-patients. Sutter Health was recently named by Truven Analytics as one of the top 20 healthcare systems for quality in the United States.
On a mission to transform the scale, pace, and adoption of healthcare IT innovations, Sutter Health needed to develop a platform that would serve as an innovation and engine platform, so that they could spin off different innovations on top of it. Their previous system required them to interface data from one application to another, which was slow and also caused a lot of data discrepancies.
Sutter Health’s central IT team was under increasing pressure from line of business teams to be more responsive and deliver applications more quickly. To solve this, Sutter Health turned to MuleSoft to power a platform of reusable microservices, exposing data from Epic, health information exchange, case management, and call center applications. Using these microservices, developers can now innovate faster without central IT as a bottleneck.
MuleSoft powers our innovation vision. We chose to partner with them to drive speed of execution.
