Addison Lee Selects MuleSoft to Accelerate Global Expansion

LONDON and SAN FRANCISCO – June 30, 2015 – MuleSoft, the company that makes it easy to connect applications, data and devices, today announced that Addison Lee, Europe’s largest premium car service, is using MuleSoft’s Anypoint Platform™ to support its global expansion strategy. The integration platform will help Addison Lee deliver its mobile application in 350 locations worldwide and speed the technology integration of its network of private car fleets.

Addison Lee’s iconic black cars transport more than 10 million passengers each year in London. Since it was founded in 1975, the company has harnessed technology innovations to stand apart from its competitors. Combining the latest technologies with traditional customer service values to deliver the best customer experience remains at the core of Addison Lee’s growth strategy. It was the first organisation of its kind to launch a mobile taxi application in 2009 and, more recently, an Apple Watch app. More than 50 percent of Addison Lee’s bookings are made through digital channels and handled with powerful allocation and dispatch software, developed by Addison Lee and its software development partner Haulmont.

At the center of Addison Lee’s technology strategy to support its global aspiration sits MuleSoft’s Anypoint Platform, a complete solution for API-led connectivity that unleashes the value of internal data and IT services through the design, implementation and management of APIs. Addison Lee is already taking advantage of the platform through the creation of an Open API.

“MuleSoft came out on top of the integration and API offerings we considered in terms of technical capability, total cost of ownership and vendor support,” said Peter Ingram, chief technology officer, Addison Lee. “MuleSoft can reduce integration times at Addison Lee potentially from several weeks to days, allowing the business to be more nimble than ever before in delivering new products and offers, and supporting new third party integrations.”

Set to launch next month, the Open API is part of a new Addison Lee Affiliate offer. The release will make it easier for partners, including airline and hotel aggregators, global distribution systems, airlines, rail companies, travel agents, corporations, and startups, to connect to Addison Lee’s data and services to develop their own applications and websites that offer Addison Lee ground transportation to their customers.

MuleSoft’s Anypoint Platform is also helping Addison Lee realise its global growth plans. Already serving customers in many international locations through its large, established network of partner fleets, the next step is to roll out the Addison Lee mobile application in all locations. Currently available in London, the application will be introduced shortly in New York and Paris, and then 20 other major cities to follow. Anypoint Platform enables Addison Lee to seamlessly connect its mobile application users with its handpicked network of international fleets. Addison Lee is setting the integration standard for an industry that traditionally hasn’t had or embraced the need for it until now. This will ensure that customers experience the same high levels of service associated with the company in the UK at a global level.

In addition, Anypoint Platform is helping Addison Lee launch a new smartphone driver application to its large base of professional drivers in London, providing real-time routing information and notifying them of roadwork or delays. Integration is key for data to flow across the consumer application and driver application, and stay in sync with the software managing allocation and dispatch across all of Addison Lee’s large fleet of private cars, courier vans and motorcycles.

Ingram said, “It’s an exciting time for both Addison Lee and the car service industry as a whole. We see full API integrations and MuleSoft as key to our growth aspirations. Our aim is to set a new standard for fleet connectivity worldwide.”
